Liturgy Related

Students who have completed the third grade are invited to become Altar Servers. Those who join are able to choose the Mass they wish to serve, and are called upon at times to serve at funeral and wedding liturgies. This is a serious commitment and it is imperative that servers be at the church fifteen minutes before their assigned time, dressed properly, and attentive to the priest during Mass.

Those who are extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist. They assist the priest in the distribution of the Blessed Sacrament to the faithful at Mass. They do so with the utmost reverence and respect made manifest by their dress, manner, and humility.

Those who proclaim the Word of God at Mass by reading the Scriptures from the Old Testament and the Epistles from the New Testament. A lector prepares him\herself by reviewing the readings, becoming comfortable with the text and practicing their delivery. It is a great honor and responsibility to proclaim God’s written word to the faithful.

Ushers play a vital role in welcoming guests and parishioners to Mass and carrying out various responsibilities during the service. Their warm smiles and helpfulness in answering questions or guiding people to their seats and taking up offerings of the people are invaluable and often create a lasting, positive impression.

Those who take the time to bring the Eucharist to those unable to attend Mass for whatever reason. It is a beautiful ministry that is needed to bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus.
